Luca, I’m hoping that you are still working on the problem of being unable to specify a fixed number of thumbnails. I’ve got the Pro version and as an example, I set it to show 12 thumbnails and it’s showing 32. It never displays the correct number despite the fact that I have thousands of posts with images. I’ll buy you a beer if you fix this.

You have to unzip the package first, then upload the “special-recent-posts” folder.

I just bought the pro version and am experiencing the header problem as well. Please advise how to fix:
“The plugin does not have a valid header.”

Hi Luca,

Thanks for the reply. Actually, I don’t want AJAX for this. It might be nice as an option, but I don’t need that. I just need a link that takes you to a WP archive page.

My use case is that I’ve got sites, rather than blogs. These sites use WP’s blog functionality to record news items. I just want my recent posts widget to show a few posts with excerpts, possibly with an image, and then have a link to the news/blog page so that the user can see all of the news.

Does that make sense?

This is pretty trivial to incorporate into the plugin. Just two options: “More posts URL” and “More posts text”, and output the link when you build the widget. Doesn’t need anything more than that for me.

Hi Ross. That feature is one of the most requested. Unfortunally it hasn’t been developed yet in none of the available versions (free & pro). It is on the way, bu i still need to find the better solution in terms of usability and user interaction with the “more” button. In a widget it could be some kind of “ajax reloading”, but what on shortcodes? Obviously you can’t press the more button and have a full page reload.. so for this feature all of you must wait a little. that’s the primary feature i’m gonna develop, and you’ll be notified as soon as it gets released. P.S: anyway, it will be released only on the PRO version.
